A Family Tradition: Aunt Marjorie’s Wholesome Granola
Some recipes bring with them a lifetime of memories, and this granola is one of those treasures. Passed down from my Aunt Marjorie to my mother, this recipe is as much about family tradition as it is about wholesome goodness. Growing up, I’d often catch that warm, nutty aroma drifting through the kitchen, signaling another fresh batch. As the years passed, I’ve made this for my children and, more recently, for my grandchildren—each batch bringing a sense of comfort and nourishment to the table.
This granola is packed with simple, nutritious ingredients: rolled oats, shredded coconut, nuts, and seeds, all sweetened with honey and kissed with a hint of vanilla. It’s flexible enough to use either coconut oil or olive oil, depending on what’s in the pantry or the flavor you’re craving. It’s rich, full of hearty flavors, and best of all it is easy to make. The recipe is versatile, too: you can halve it, double it, or make a big batch and freeze some to have on hand.
Serve it over yogurt, with a splash of milk, or just as a snack straight from the jar. However you enjoy it, I hope this granola brings warmth to your kitchen and becomes a family favorite for you, just as it has been for us.
