Montana Icelandic Sheep Pelt – Beryl

These Montana Icelandic sheep pelts are supple and soft suede on the backside and incredibly long lambs wool on the other side.

Blooming Joy Farm  Icelandic sheepskins are one of a kind, keepsake that will add warmth to any room.

We sort, clean and salt the pelt before sending them to a skilled craftsman for tanning. It takes hours of work to save, clean, cure and tan each pelt into a beautiful fleece that will last for many years.

The underside may have small holes or discoloration.

This wool pelt is of beautiful quality that will last for generations to come, with proper care. Sheepskins come with care instructions.

You will enjoy the density of the double wool layers, the tog and thel.

The outer coat, called tog, is a true wool and should not be confused as being the same thing as the longer guard hairs on other breeds of sheep. It can grow to 6-8 inches in just 6 months, and is particularly lustrous as well as quite strong and durable. The fine undercoat is called thel , which grows to 2-4 inches in length.

A favorite place to display our pelts is on the end of the bed or on the back of our rocking chair.  It makes for a warm, cozy place to relax.
