Description
These Montana Icelandic sheep pelts are supple and soft suede on the backside and incredibly long lambs wool on the other side.
Blooming Joy Farm Icelandic sheepskins are one of a kind, keepsake that will add warmth to any room.
This pelt symbolizes meticulous care and dedication spanning more than a year to uphold the essence of this exquisite sheep breed.
Every pelt undergoes manual craftsmanship, preserving its inherent charm. While minor scrapes or imperfections may be present due to processing, the leather underside showcases a distinct pinkish-beige hue, a hallmark of the mimosa bark tannin used. Only eco-friendly products have been utilized in the cleaning and processing of these hides.
This wool pelt is of beautiful quality that will last for generations to come, with proper care. Sheepskins come with care instructions.
You will enjoy the density of the double wool layers, the tog and thel.
The outer coat, called tog, is a true wool and should not be confused as being the same thing as the longer guard hairs on other breeds of sheep. It can grow to 6-8 inches in just 6 months, and is particularly lustrous as well as quite strong and durable. The fine undercoat is called thel , which grows to 2-4 inches in length.
A favorite place to display our pelts is on the end of the bed or on the back of our rocking chair. It makes for a warm, cozy place to relax.
